Beefeater Gin Distillery Tour

Beefeater Gin Distillery Tour

HOME TO THE AUTHENTIC LONDON DRY GIN STILL MADE IN THE CAPITAL. One of London’s best kept secrets - the Beefeater Distillery in Kennington – where gin is still hand-crafted to a recipe that is virtually unchanged since the 1800s. London, one of the world’s great cities, has played a leading role in the development of London Dry Gin, one of the world’s great drinks. From the dawn of English gin distilling, the history of London and Beefeater Gin has been closely intertwined. Housed in an Edwardian building with a 1950s extension, the Beefeater Distillery features original Victorian pot stills and a botanical room, where the fresh ingredients are stored. A custom-built visitor centre allows connoisseurs to see the original stills, view the distilling process and learn about the history of gin in London.

Brú na Bóinne Tour

Brú na Bóinne, which means the ‘palace’ or the ‘mansion’ of the Boyne, refers to the area within the bend of the River Boyne which contains one of the world’s most important prehistoric landscapes. It is located close to the east coast of Ireland approximately 40 km north of Dublin city, about 8km west of the medieval town of Drogheda and about 5km east of the village of Slane. The archaeological landscape within Brú na Bóinne is dominated by the three well-known large passage tombs, Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth, built some 5,000 years ago in the Neolithic or Late Stone Age. An additional ninety monuments have been recorded in the area giving rise to one of the most significant archaeological complexes in terms of scale and density of monuments and the material evidence that accompanies them. The Brú na Bóinne tombs, in particular Knowth, contain the largest assemblage of megalithic art in Western Europe. The natural heritage of Brú na Bóinne is also of importance and it encompasses several Natural Heritage Areas. The Boyne River Islands are one of the country’s few examples of alluvial wet woodland which is a priority habitat under the EU Habitat Directive

Stonehenge Tour Gift Certificate

One of the world's greatest mysteries, Stonehenge is a massive circle of 3,500-year-old standing stones and earthworks located in the middle of a green field in Wiltshire. While it's unclear who built the landmark or how, Stonehenge is surely one of Britain's most important ancient monuments, having been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986. Evidence suggests that the area may have once been a burial site, and theories abound that Stonehenge may have astronomical, spiritual or even supernatural meaning. These days, travelers flock to the vista to experience the magic and mystery.

Edinburgh Evening of Ghosts & Ghouls

Edinburgh Evening of Ghosts & Ghouls

The night begins with a tour of the darker closes and wynds of Edinburgh, before journeying into the haunted Blair Street Underground Vaults. Finally, we’ll retire to a candlelit cellar for a dram of whisky and an evening of storytelling. The air filled with cries and taunts, and a crowd of thousands baying for the blood of two men – snatched from their cells, lynched on a dyer’s pole. Take your place as a member of the ‘Edinburgh mob’, which once surged in riot past the Mercat Cross. Hear grisly tales of witchcraft, torture and restless spirits as you venture down medieval closes and descend into the haunted Blair Street Underground Vaults. Your cloaked guide will lead you through the dimly lit caverns, filling the night with stories – all of them true. Stories of blood, guts and gore. And a whisky to warm the heart. As night thickens, we’ll gather in Megget’s cellar for a whisky – or a glass of wine or soft drink if you’re not fond of a dram. In the warmth of candlelight, your storyteller will conjure more tales of Edinburgh’s ghoulish past, and the tortured souls that stalk the city’s streets.

Take a 1-hour ghost walking tour through Edinburgh and discover its mysterious secrets and chilling history. Your entertaining guide leads you down side streets and alleyways, and recounts supernatural history, fiendish plots and sinister tales from the city’s darkest corners to its subterranean chambers.
Visit sites of hangings and documented spirit hauntings; discover where Edinburgh’s disreputable characters committed crimes of passion; and hear legendary stories, such as that of a wizard who was burned at the stake. Learn, too, about the notorious ‘bodysnatchers’ who reputedly stole fresh bodies from graveyards to sell to medical schools for anatomy lectures. Then follow your guide underground to the Blair Street Vaults, built under the 19 stone arches of the South Bridge constructed in the late 18th century. Led by candlelight flickering in the shadows, you’ll see where lively poltergeists bide their time and learn of Edinburgh’s darkest deeds before your tour ends back above ground
